Wonder of Place week
at The Community School:

Join The Community School (TCS) for a week of creativity, exploration, and community in the Babson Creek Learning Forest! This immersive week features three distinct tracks, each running Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm (July 20th - 24th only), designed to engage young artists, performers, and explorers in meaningful, place-based experiences. We invite families to register for the individual track that best fits their child’s interests and age group.

We will also be offering the beloved Wonder Walk on Wednesday, July 22nd (one date only this summer) which is designed for children ages 1-3 years old and their accompanying caregivers.

Scholarship & Reduced Tuition for Summer Programming: We are committed to making this meaningful, place-based experience accessible to all families. If the full cost of the weeklong session ($300) is a concern, we warmly invite you to complete the scholarship application below. We offer reduced tuition based on family need and aim to ensure that cost is not a barrier to participation.

Place-Based Palette (for ages 5-8)

Explore nature-based art techniques through a week of Place-Based art creation led by The community school Executive Director + Founder: Jasmine Smith in which participants will engage with a myriad of local artists and makers (Emma Mary Murray, Angela Rumore, Emily Brady + even more!) and come home with a place-based art portfolio.

The week closes with an outdoor gallery show. Come create with us along Babson Creek!

Bushcraft + Wild Med (for ages 8-13):

Join us for a week of Exploring foundational fire-building techniques, shelter construction, wildcraft skills, and hands-on wilderness first aid through immersive, place-based learning. Participants will learn from skilled facilitators and local knowledge-keepers: Jesse Snider + Matt Blackman and learn age appropriate wilderness first aid with Sarah Adelberg, who is the founder of Wilderness Medicine Leadership LLC.

Come spend the week building confidence, resilience, and practical backcountry skills rooted in the landscape around us!

Wonder Walk Wednesday

Join teachers from the Sweet Fern Forest Kindergarten for an afternoon immersion in the natural world. participants will explore a our campus through hands-on, nature-based activities that foster conversation and community-building among parents and children. Wonder Walks are designed for ages 1-3 and their caregivers. This special Wonder Walk is offered July 22nd from 9am - 11am.

Storybook Theater at Babson Creek (for ages 6-13):

A collaboration between Barn Arts + The Community School.

Explore Storybook Theater through a week of Place-Based performance, bringing a beloved Brendan Wenzel book to life! The production will be directed by Andrew Simon, with arts education support from Community School educators: Autumn Soares + Alisa Hearn. The week culminates in a Friday theater performance, where students share their work on stage.
